Come learn about WaRP @ Wearables TechCon 2016

WTC2016-LOGOREVO and Kynetics will be presenting at Wearables TechCon 2016! We’ll be showing off some cool capabilities of the WaRP platform and talking about how to develop a project using a platform like ours. We’ve also been busy building up some stock of WaRP boards ourselves and are planning to have them available at the show! We hope to see you there, and definitely let us know if you’re be attending so we can meet up with our friends and followers.

Find out more about Wearables TechCon here!

WaRP Talk @ JavaOne 2015

Hi everyone, Aaron and Nicola will be talking about running Java on the WaRP at JavaOne 2015. The session is: CON10282 – “Deploy Small IoT Embedded SOC Devices and a Back-End Platform with Java, Using WaRP” and will be on Wed 10/28/2015 @ 11:30AM Hilton Continental Ballroom 7/8/9. We’re going to be talking about how to add sensors to the WaRP platform using the dev kit and look at how to access those sensors from Java to get it connected up to the Cloud.

If you’re at the conference and want to come learn more about WaRP, come to our session! We’ll also be around and be glad to share/discuss WaRP and everything else at the show.

See you there!

WaRP Showcase at CES 2015

Our team, along with our partners, will be at CES 2015 showcasing WaRP. Come visit us at the Freescale suite or setup a meeting with us to see WaRP in action. We’ll have various demo setups running on WaRP. Talk to the developers and come discover how to build your own wearable with WaRP!

Announcing The 2011 REVO 1

CORVALLIS, Oregon—2010 December 11th—We are excited to announce that a major revision to the REVO 1 is underway. The all new REVO 1 will be faster than ever with a powerful new system inside. We are using Marvell’s ARMADA line of cutting edge embedded processors to attain a greater level of power and efficiency. By popular request the REVO 1 will now come preconfigured to stream video data off-board using the top mounted camera. The redesigned and improved REVO 1 will be available early next year for under $1000! For now you can take a sneak peek at the new exterior look on FLICKR.

REVO 1 – Ready to Roam

CORVALLIS, Oregon—2009 March 20th—Revolution Robotics announces the REVO 1 desktop robotics platform. Designed and developed to address the issues of modern robotics research, the REVO 1 combines a compact robotics platform with serious on-board processing to open new doors for robotics software development. The goal of this platform is make way for software developers to enter the world of robotics without the traditional burdens of robotic platforms.

The REVO 1 addresses the challenges of robotics research by removing many of the limitations of traditional robotics. As an industry, robotics has been associated with mechanical engineering and many robotic systems reflect this with their radio-control based designs. Yet robotics is about much more! It is about intelligent software and making smart decisions, a task that is more appropriately associated with computer science and software. The future of intelligent robotics is in the software, yet many of todays platforms lack the processing power needed to support high level software research. REVO 1 solves this issue by combining its mechanical/mobile base with a fully capable embedded Linux computer. REVO 1 has tremendous processing power and memory to handle the challenges of robotics development and the added computing power opens the door for innovative new software solutions.

Robotics incorporates both mechanical and electrical design. With sensors and peripherals requiring special mounting as well as complex wiring, software developers have had limited exposure and experience working with robotics. The REVO 1 bridges the hardware gap for software developers by building its interfaces on industry-standard connectors like USB and Ethernet. Gone are the antiquated I/O pins and cluttered hook-ups; REVO 1 makes it easier for software developers to manage the hardware platform by utilizing plug & play capabilities already familiar to them. REVO 1 capabilities are easily extended through additional sensors and peripherals all of which simply “plug-in”.

The focus of REVO 1 is to empower software developers to work on next-generation robotics software by providing a solution that is ready-to-roam. The REVO 1 is easy to program though its various interfaces and lends itself well towards pure software based robotics research. Hot topics like computer vision, motion-control, and robot localization can be researched easier using the REVO 1. Built-in support for Wi-Fi means the REVO 1 is also ready for multi-agent and distributed robotics.

REVO 1 comes ready-to-roam for $1599 and is available today. The platform will open new doors for robotics research and will enable developers to finally focus on software challenges without the traditional limitations. Projects & Program Sponsorship at Oregon State University

CORVALLIS, Oregon—2008 October 18th—Revolution Robotics has announced a new initiative to support and sponsor robotics related programs and projects at Oregon State University. Each new project or program in robotics requires a substantial effort to lay the ground work for new platforms, manufacturing, and tools. After realizing the tremendous lack of resources and support, the company has decided to provide student related projects with a variety of support ranging from custom robotic platforms to development partnerships.

The type of resourced needed to work on robotics is substantial. Tools, manufacturing, project prototyping, and design support are just some of the costly factors needed for robotics related projects. Revolution Robotics is uniquely position to be able to offer a wide range of support for research and development in the area of robotics, while making many of these much needed resources accessible to the project.

By involving itself with academic efforts, the company hopes to lead the way in bring additional support from local community businesses and members to support the innovative projects at Oregon State University. By leveraging commercial manufacturing technologies, Revolution Robotics will be able to provided custom developed technologies and products to educational programs at cost, and make them available commercially where applicable.

Revolution Robotics will continue to offer support on a per-project basis. For information on opportunities contact the company directly.
